The velocity is frequently used as a measurand in machine dynamics, structural dynamics and acoustics. The measurement principles used in practice for measuring velocity are briefly deduced, their frequency responses are presented, and the special features of the measurement methods and their limitations are shown. Together with the respective measuring principle, the signal processing in the transducer is described. The presentation is illustrated by numerous figures and application examples and aims to make it easier for the user to select the transducer.
