EVs are gaining interest from both countries and industries as it is an energy efficient mode of transport and environment friendly. Before disruption of Covid-19, there was an increase in sales of EVs. Even after Covid-19 outbreak, EVs industry is showing positive signs. When compared to IC engine counterparts, electric vehicle market will recover faster from Covid-19 setback. The reasons are, BS-VI norms implemented by Supreme Court on April 1st 2020 and rapid increase in fuel prices. People forced to use private vehicles to maintain social distancing after Covid-19. Increase in EVs will increase the loads and might put pressure on the grid especially when people charge their vehicles at peak hours. The sudden spike in power consumption might also put pressure on power distribution network and transformers. This paper focuses on energy management when large number of electric vehicles is integrated with the grid. Smart EV charging infrastructure is current need.
