Abstract In accordance with the previously obtained experimental results, two windshield FE models, namely, the single-layered and triple-layered models, are established to investigate the mechanical behavior of laminated windshield subject to headform impact. The modeling steps are described in detail, and the influencing factors of simulation for the two models are discussed. The simulation results of the two FE models are compared, and the better results are applied on a vehicle with different laminated windshield thicknesses to verify the accuracy of the windshield FE model.
