The security threats for Mass Transit Transportation Systems (MTTSs) in railway infrastructure systems, originate from a multiplicity of threat sources and constantly increase, both in terms of frequency and gravity. Cityringen, the new metro line of Copenhagen, is a fully automated metro in the heart of the city. It has been designed and planned in order to satisfy the main security requirements in MTTSs using both vulnerability analysis and risk assessment activities. This chapter describes criteria and options selected to equip stations and vehicles with state of the art passenger safety and security systems, including dynamic passenger information displays, call-points and high quality live video surveillance systems, and to manage crises situations.
