Road plays a significant role in the economic growth contributing to the nation’s progress. Transportation through road is more flexible than any other means of transport. Proper maintenance and robust construction become highly essential when it is concerned with the safety of the citizens. There might be a few parameters that affect the infrastructure of the roads. One such factor is pavement holes. Holes on the pavement are formed because of more environmental changes, external causes, and other general effects like heavy rainfall, heavy vehicle traffic, quality, and road management. Roads expand and shrink, forming cracks and potholes. Microsoft Kinect device is capable of reconstructing the pothole using its advanced depth sensors. This may prevent vehicle damage and, in some cases, deaths due to accidents. This paper deals with identifying the severity caused due to pavement holes on the road surface using a Kinect sensor and Raspberry Pi 4.
