The paper outlines the characteristics important to a determination of maintainability and the criteria suggested for their measurement. Various means of demonstrating and verifying total system, maintainability are examined and the advantages and disadvantages discussed. A testing program to determine maintainability is outlined and discussed in some detail. Specific examples of results and the conclusions and recommendations stemming therefrom are included.
