Economists cannot fortell the future, but merely expound upon the future implications of current developments. Since these influencing factors seldom work in concert, but instead have opposing effects, quantitative predictions are hazardous. Based on an overview of European economic development it is concluded that the air cargo industry will do more business in, from, and to Europe in the years ahead--though it may be ‘profitless prosperity’.
