As a common carrier, Ryder Truck Lines is part of the transportation system of the United States in a free enterprise economy. I need to point out the free enterprise concept, since we only can exist and perform our transportation service to the American public if we are operating on a profitable basis. Over-regulation in the areas of equipment operation, emissions, noise, or performance requirements can have a detrimental effect on the entire transportation system and subsequently be detrimental to the American economy.
