A packaged modular cogeneration system using internal combustion engines has been developed which can reduce the utility costs of industrial, commercial, and residential energy use systems when properly applied. This paper provides a brief background of this development, and discusses general techniques for assessing the economic feasibility of these systems for specific applications.
