This paper discusses the basic thermo-dynamic relationships involved in evaporator performance, shows how they are related to the geometric configuration and demonstrates that a degree of freeze protection may be achieved through careful design. Results of calculations and a road test are included to aid in visualizing the effects of varying the amount of internal surface in an evaporator on system performance.
