New light is shed on the problems of achieving profitable use of the SST's annual seat mile capability and the difficulties in developing a schedule pattern minimizing adverse effects of necessary subsonic segments. The supersonic is considered in terms of acceptable schedule times versus optimum utilization, fixed costs as related to purchase price and amortization, and break-even load factors versus capacity generated and per mile operating costs.
