Problems of achieving profitable use of SST's annual seat mile capability and difficulties in developing schedule pattern minimizing adverse effects of necessary subsonic segments are examined; example of problem of international schedule planning New York-Paris; supersonic transport is considered in terms of acceptable schedule times vs optimum utilization, fixed costs as related to purchase price and amortization, and break-even load factors vs capacity generated and per mile operating costs.
