This paper discusses the future of manned exploration of the seafloors of the world's oceans with particular emphasis on the Aluminaut, a 50-ft long submarine, carrying a payload of six persons and 6000 lb with a capacity to submerge 15,000 ft. Various experiences of the Aluminaut are presented, including research and salvage operations.
