Nissan Diesel Motor Co., Japan, added three new series of medium-duty trucks. This addition completes the Nissan Diesel's medium-duty truck line-up targeted the U.S. market at the initial stage. It includes two models in class 7, and one each in class 5 and 6 trucks. These trucks utilize common components such as cabs and engines. The class 5 and 6 trucks share a cab of a standard width and a 6.9 liter 170 HP naturally aspirated direct injection diesel engine, while the class 7 trucks share another cab having a greater width and another family of 7.4 liter engine which is available in two versions, ie. a naturally aspirated 175 HP and a turbocharged 210 HP versions operating on the same direct injection system. The cab design is of a modern external appearance and of an aerodynamic contour. Maximum commonality was achieved in sheet panels and interior parts between the two cabs of different widths. The comfortable driving position suitable for drivers of any size was achieved by a use of a tilting and telescopically adjustable steering column.
