The development of a sound welding procedure should consider a number of very important aspects. The choice of basic welding variables can provide selective weld characteristics to best fit the design concept and production variables. Further, the development of these aspects into a viable welding procedure may be readily evaluated, in many instances, by performance testing of the weldment under conditions directly associated with the intended service.
