The amount of LSI logic to control and monitor engine performance is constantly being integrated. Injection control modules range in functionality from simple fuel metering to sequential fuel injection with distributorless ignition. This paper will review the type of I/O processing power required for engine control today and look at what will be required of I/O processing of tomorrow.
