The BIEM program, a three-dimensional structural analysis code, was run on the CDC Cyber 205 vector computer as part of a benchmark. As-is results were unpromising, with the 205 giving roughly one and a half times the speed of an IBM 3033. After a thorough vectorization, BIEM runs at one hundred times 3033 speed on the Cyber 205.
