Driver side frontal airbags have been introduced on Class 8 trucks to enhance occupant protection during a frontal vehicle crash. The advantages of using three point seat belt and driver side airbag systems are demonstrated through dynamic sled testing. A Class 8 conventional cab environment used in a simulated front end crash is investigated using a HYGE sled.
