Abstract HST is step-less speed changer that exploits fluids, the neutral valve controlling the pressure in the circuit of the HST is installed inside the transmission to supply or to cut-off power to the vehicle. A ‘jerk’ occurred in tractors, this was possibly triggered by the neutral valve reacting sensitively to external loads or disturbansces attributable to the working environment. To examine the cause, type, pressure, and range of frequency the ‘jerk’ experiments were carried out under various conditions. To suppress the ‘jerk’ caused by the sensitivity of the neutral valve, commercial software ‘SimulationX’ was employed to develop an analytic model so a neutral valve that could suppress the ‘jerk’ caused by the sensiticity of the neutral valve that could suppress the ‘jerk’ in the range of frequency that preciously triggered the ‘jerk’ could be developed. Based on results obtained from the analyses, the neutral valve was tuned and it was experimentally that the ‘jerk’ had disappeared.
