Part two of a series about the Sydney's light rail expansion is presented. Public transit solutions are vital parts of long-term transportation planning in Sydney, New South Wales (NSW), Australia. Expansions of public transit services are currently underway to keep people moving safely and efficiently in and around the city and its busy central business district (CBD). A modern railway system and a modern light rail system are both part oft he NSW Government's Long Term Transport Master Plan to reform, improve, and grow services on the rail network, leading to an overall capacity increase of 60%, and to expand the public transport network to address CBD congestion and provide reliable turn up and go services for city commuters. Light rail will transform Sydney by offering a high capacity, reliable, and sustainable mode of public transport. While congestion will be difficult short-term during the light rail construction process, the completed light rail system offers significant long-term benefits.
