    Title :

Improvement of ballastless track designs for turnouts: Experience gained on Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) - Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) began to study the ballastless track concept at the beginning of the 1980s and, subsequently, decided on this design as the standard type of construction for tunnel sections. Soon it became apparent that each project needed to be viewed as an individual undertaking and, as a result, different designs were created for open country areas (on earth subgrade), for bridges, and also for turnouts. To date, about 39 km of ballastless track - Including 1600 m of turnouts - Has been installed on ÖBB, of which 95% in tunnels, 4% in open country, and 1% on bridges
