The mission of the Corps of Engineers of the U.S. Army and the contributions made by the ERTS-1 data system are discussed. The use of satellite-borne sensors and aerial photography for projects involving engineering geology, flood control, master planning, and fluid dynamics and interations is reported. Examples of engineering projects are provided in the form of aerial photographs and multispectral band scanner imagery.
