In the beginning of 1979 and 1980 full scale seakeeping trials have been carried out with m.v. Hollandia, a Dutch container vessel owned by the Royal Netherlands Steamship Company at Amsterdam. The experiments have been carried out on two normal service voyages of the ship from Northern Europe to the Caribbean. The aim of the project is to investigate the feasibility of a computer based shipboard monitoring and prediction system to ensure safe and economic ship operation.
