This report describes the results of an analysis of pedestrian accidents in the town of Oslo (population 490,000, capital of Norway). The objectives of the analysis were to identify patterns in pedestrian accidents that may indicate possibilities of prevention and to identify some risk factors associated with accidents involving pedestrians crossing the road. The study relied on the accident record for police reported injury accidents kept by the town of Oslo. Accidents covering the years 1991-1995 were used in the study.
