The operational concept, projected passenger demand, ATC system performance tradeoff data, and subsystem technological alternatives were evaluated to select the two most promising candidate systems for a fourth-generation (1995) ATC system. These two candidates and the upgraded third-generation system were then compared and a final recommended fourth-generation ATC system selected. The recommended system was described as to technology, operation, implementation plan, and required research and development. (Author)
