This report discusses the training and preparedness of the three Army National Guard roundout brigades that were activated during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. We made this review primarily to determine whether the brigades had been adequately trained during peacetime to do their wartime jobs. The report contains recommendations to you to take a number of specific actions to improve (1) peacetime training, (2) the reliability of training evaluations, and (3) reservists medical condition.
