Urban freight transport represents a field with lack of knowledge. The purpose of the study has been to analyze trends and to calculate statistics for freight transport in Norwegian cities. Typical urban freight transport problems in Norway are also identified. The results in the study confirm the hypothesis that goods transported in Norwegian cities consolidates, and calculations show how important the business and the retail sectors are for growth in urban freight transport. The results also indicate that the number of conflicts between goods vehicles and other traffic is increasing, and that more resources should be used on urban freight transport planning in Norwegian cities.
