Some of the characteristics of Pi2 pulsations observed at mid-latitudes on the ground are reviewed and the use of certain characteristics in indicating various magnetic and particle perturbations occurring during substorms are assessed. Spacecraft charging and its effects at geosynchronous orbit also reviewed. There is a brief discussion of how Pi2 pulsations might be used to predict intervals of spacecraft charging at geosynchronous orbit.
