Development activities of the Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) in the areas of remote sensing technology application such as climatic forecasting are presented. ISY (International Space Year) activities in Indonesia are also described. Building up remote sensing data reception and processing capability has been made to meet the requirements for monitoring changes in natural resources such as land and ocean surfaces, coast line, forest, fishing sea area, farm land, and so forth to get ready for LANDSAT satellites, SPOT, and other ESA satellites. Survey on modeling Indonesian climate model is going on, and a new wind profiling radar and a large equatorial atmosphere radar are under construction and scheduled respectively in international cooperation.
