Torque-displacement characteristics of four Messier and four Automotive Products dampers were measured under various velocity conditions. These measurements were repeated on two of the Messier dampers after they had been used in a vehicle in proving ground trials. For the four dampers of each type, torque-velocity characteristics derived from the torque-displacement data were generally consistent. Changes in damper bulk body temperature had a negligible effect on the characteristics.
