In response to Congressional mandate, the Urban Mass Transportation Administration of the Department of Transportation engaged in an extensive evaluation of high speed waterborne (HSW) passenger transportation in the United States and throughout the free world. This study reviews the history of HSW transportation, determines its current status, and examines factors that might impact its future development in the United States.
