The scope of the study was to investigate the influence of the aft body of the hull of a high speed displacement ship on the still water resistance and motions in waves. The choice in the speed range under consideration is whether to use a round bilge or a hard chine. The intention of this was to investigate whether an improved planing hull could reduce resistance for these high length to beam ratio hulls.
