In this report, transport performance figures for the year 2003 are presented together with other relevant Norwegian transport statistics. Domestic passenger transport performance increased by 1.1 per cent in 2003. Road traffic rose by 1.8 per cent. Public transport by bus and rail, decreased considerably in 2003, while domestic air transport showed an upward trend, International Passenger Transport in 2003 was higher than ever. Domestic transport of goods by ship and rail decreased in 2003, but an observed slight decrease in freight road transport the same year was mainly due to improved data basis. The quantity of freight to and from the mainland was mainly at the same level in 2003 as the year before. Oil and gas exported directly from the Norwegian continental shelf decreased by three per cent in 2003.
