The report describes a survey of public transport journey times carried out in the London area in June 1970. The journey times by public transport of 120 trips sampled from the London Traffic Survey were measured. Walking, waiting, interchange and on-vehicle times were separately identified for bus travel and for a combined rail network (British Rail and London Transport). Measurements were made during the morning peak, offpeak and evening peak periods. The relation between passenger waiting times and service frequency was also investigated. (Author)
