The machines involved in the construction of shelters include: tracked bulldozers with low driving speed, multiple-bucket excavators, single-bucket excavators on track drives, tracked and wheeled cranes, front loaders with capacities of 5 t and higher. To maintain traffic and work in centers of damage, equipment supplied is designed to support the travel of civil defense forces to remake main roads through piles of rubble within the city and to allow formations to move to work sites as rapidly as possible. Equipment should include maneuverable and highly productive excavators riding on wheels, scrapers with wheeled tractors and cranes, and trucks for mechanization of earth moving and bridge construction work. When buried shelters are opened, it is almost obligatory to use equipment for cutting of reinforcement and metal structures.
