Congress has set a goal for the Armed Forces to achieve the fielding of unmanned, remotely controlled technology such that (1) by 2010, one-third of the aircraft in the operational deep strike force aircraft fleet are unmanned; and (2) by 2015, one-third of the operational ground combat vehicles are unmanned. FY01 NDAA (PL 106-398). This briefing looks at the Autonomous Mobility Applique System (AMAS) kits being developed. Among the objectives are *Shorten robotic platform/ function development time, *Enable scalable autonomous feature/function capabilities, and *Reduce module cost and investment at an enterprise level.
