The project is the conversion of a portion of state route 15 from a four-lane highway to a freeway. The project will require additional right of way. Dwellings and commercial units will be removed. New right of way will displace up to 2,000 persons. The removal of up to 63 commercial units will affect an estimated 110 jobs. The wide right of way alternate may reduce taxable retail sales by 1.5 million dollars. Permission to use park land for right of way will be determined. Increased traffic on Central Avenue may increase the apparent noise level of some Central school classrooms, and at other locations along the proposed freeway, regardless of the freeway design alternate. Increased traffic means more car emissions.
