The project is located in Arlington County, Virginia. It begins in the Woodmont-Highland Area of Arlington County and then continues to the Three Sisters Bridge. The purpose of the project is to provide for a fast, safe and efficient highway facility integrated in the overall transportation plan for the Washington, D. C., Metropolitan Area and also as a part of the National System of Interstate and Defense Highways. The construction of this route will help the environment along Lee Highway in the Rosslyn-Key Bridge Area by reducing noise, air pollution and traffic congestion with practically no detrimental effect along the proposed route. An adverse effect which cannot be avoided would be the need for acquiring 31.6 acres of parkway land for road construction purposes.
