The project consists of 2.7 miles of four-lane highway within a corridor located between WVA Route 2 south of Ravenswood to the Interstate 77 interchange with Route 56 in Silverton. The route begins about 1.5 miles south of Ravenswood City limits and generally transverses the valley of Sandy Creek paralleling WVA 56. The highway, functionally designated as an expressway, will provide a connection between West Virginia Route 2 and I-77 without requiring traffic to pass through the City of Ravenswood, relieving the congestion now prevalent. The proposed highway is expected to serve as a stimulus in promoting the economic growth of the immediate area, a proposed growth center, as well as the Parkersburg area with desirable traffic reductions in Ravenswood proper. Minor construction-related effects to the environment will occur. A small number of residences will be taken. Slight increases in air and noise pollution may be expected throughout the project area.
