The patent application relates to an end effector for use on the end of a remotely controlled manipulator arm of a robot or teleoperator device. The end effector grasps an object by being inflated after insertion into an open area of the object. Novelty of the invention is believed to reside in the use of a balloon-type inflatable end member for a remote manipulator and in the spline and reinforced sections of the balloon.
