A brief description is given of the cosmodrome facilities necessary to launch rockets having a gross weight of 1600 to 2700 tons, large propulsion units with 2500- to 3500-Mp initial thrust, an overall length of 80 to 130 m, a diameter of 7 to 10 m, and, depending upon their mission, a payload varying from 25 to 150 tons. The various stages of preparation of a space vehicle are briefly touched upon. (Author)
