Soviet northern cosmodrome, which is situated to south of Archangel, has maintained steady rate of launching since first Cosmos satellite went up from there in Mar 1966, despite severe winter conditions; existence of site was first publically announced at British Interplanetary Society Autumn Meeting following radiotracking activities at Kettering Grammar School; review of launching of various spacecraft, and calculations carried out by Grammar School; tabulation of data.
