The project calls for the following: Extend and widen 75 x 3400 foot NW/SE runway to 100 x 4500 feet; Relocate and install medium intensity runway lights; Enlarge existing apron area; Install visual approach slope indicators; Relocate township road; and, Acquire 92.75 acres of land. A summary of adverse environmental effects include the following: Removal of trees and shrubs in the clear zone of the extended runway will have a negative effect on wildlife; An increase in noise and air pollution is anticipated since runway lengthening will allow use of the airport by larger twin-engine aircraft; and, The runway extension will result in the loss of agricultural cropland.
