The patent relates to an apparatus for controlling the direction of an underwater submersible vehicle including diving planes having first control surface portions angularly pivotable relative to the vehicle. Second control surface portions are integratedly formed with the first portions and are angularly pivotable relative to the vehicle and relative to the first portions. A first control device is operable to pivot the first and second portions as a unit and a second control device is operable to pivot the second portions independently of the first portions.
