Fly-By-Wire (FBW) has been adopted for flight control in recent aircraft to improve controllability and fuel consumption. A Direct-Drive-Valve (DDV) is an electro-hydraulic transformer which simplifies redundancy management implementation in flight control actuators for FBW systems. Several types of DDV have been developed for experimental aircraft. A good way to achieve good response, a high output force and small dimensions is the combination of a high speed DC brushless motor and a speed reduction mechanism. This type of DDV is provided in a FBW actuator and an evaluation test is being conducted.
