The nonlinearity of hull girder loads has an important impact on the strategy to determine the lifetime of a ship in a seaway. An increase of the bow flare will significantly increase the nonlinear response components in wave loads. The nonlinear influence of flare on ship hull girder loads in waves has been studied in this report. The method to simulate the nonlinear girder loads of a ship with the flare hull form has been figured out. The ship hull girder loads in regular waves have been calculated. The results of simulation are compared with the experiment data for Wigley ships with bow flare and without flare, a good agreement has been found. The recommendations for further study are presented.
