In this project, the Oslo region is divided into 10 regions, where freight flows are described in detail. The report depicts the commodity flows to and from terminals, flows within the region and between the region and the neighbouring counties, as well as to the rest of Norway. The freight volumes by road, rail and sea in the main conrridors are shown. We have interviewed large importers (wholesalers) in the region and asked them how they will adapt to the changes they foresee. We have assessed two scenarios where the wholesalers move their report volumes to Gothenburg or to the area just south of Oslo, Norwegian wholesalers are facing enhanced competition from foreign traders that prefer to serve the retailers in Norway through frequent consignments from warehouses located abroad. This is a result of shorter transport times due to better roads. We have also calculated the greenhouse gas emissions from freight transport in the Oslo region compared to the total greehouse gas emissions from freight transports in Norway.
