On October 20, 1982 an international Symposion on Alcohol and Traffic Safety was held in Cologne which had been jointly organized by the Federal Highway Research Institute and the 'Union against Alcohol in Traffic'. Sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Transport, papers were delivered by experts from Japan, Austria, Scandinavia, Great Britain, France and the Federal Republic of Germany describing the data collected and programs established in their respective countries. This was followed by a panel discussion on the measures taken and envisaged to combat the problem of drinking and driving. This issue comprises all the papers delivered in both English and German.
