The Corps of Engineers has proposed plans for widening six channel bends in the St. Marys River. The project is designed to provide safer navigation for the larger vessels that will be using the St. Marys River Waterway. Dredging and disposal operations would cause temporary water quality degradation. The disposal island would cover approximately six acres of river bottom and disrupt the aquatic life therein.
