The purpose of this test was to gather data concerning the application of FMNSS 214, 'Side Impact Protection-Passenger Cars,' in the 48/24 kph 270 degree driver's side impact mode to electric vehicles. This test was conducted with a 1995 Solectria Force 4-door sedan. This test was conducted using NHTSA's Office of Vehicle Saftey Compliance (OVSC) Laboratory Test Procedure No. TP-241D-03 as a guide with the addition of a post-test static rollover test to determine if electrolyte leakage occurred into the passenger's compartment.
